Smarty Pants Marketing

The Big Picture was an exciting arts project funded by Arts Council England West Midlands, developed and delivered by Audiences Central and supported by the BBC, to encourage people throughout the West Midlands to get involved in visual arts by participating in photography.  I was commissioned by Audiences Central to project manage all aspects of the Big Picture, from developing and implementing the project plan to recruiting suppliers and sponsors, managing the BBC relationship, implementing creative marketing, overseeing a large team and of course the minor task of breaking a world record!

Between January and June 2008, over 45,000 people visited The Big Picture website, submitting an amazing 113,000 photos (112,896 to be exact), all of which were used to create the world’s largest photo mosaic.  Attendance at Big Picture associate galleries increased by over 50,000 and the project was awarded the 2008 Jaguar Land Rover Arts & Business Cultural Branding Award for its exceptional relationships with the BBC and Jessops.  The Big Picture was a hugely demanding project that tested my management skills to the absolute limit.  I approached this massive piece of work with dedication, hard work, passion and enthusiasm and feel extremely proud to have been part of such an innovative and successful project.
