Smarty Pants Marketing

To acknowledge the achievements of successful Diploma candidates the National Examination Board for Occupational Safety & Health (NEBOSH), hosts an annual graduation & awards ceremony.  The inaugural ceremony was held in 2005 when just over 600 people attended, this year that figure doubled with 1200 graduates, their guests, course providers and sponsors present on the day.

I was commissioned by NEBOSH in 2005 to work on their very first event and am happy to say that I’ve worked with them annually ever since and we are now planning the 2010 ceremony.  I work with NEBOSH as an extension of their team, attending regular planning meetings and site visits with key stakeholders.  I source all suppliers, manage the relationship with venue, develop and oversee all event marketing material and organise all the logistics of the day ranging from catering and registration to the seating, timings and format for the ceremony.  Although this will be the fifth year I’ve worked on this event it still remains an extremely challenging, but immensely rewarding project.  Even though I’ve now seen over a thousand health and safety professionals graduate at this event I still get a huge sense of pride and satisfaction (and a bit teary) when they cross the stage to huge applause.
