Paul Kaynes, West Midlands Creative Programmer, London 2012After completing a degree in marketing, I started my professional career in the corporate sector working for some of the UK’s largest financial services institutions including Norwich Union, Zurich and Birmingham Midshires. I became a specialist in marketing communications, managing large scale marketing campaigns and events targeted at consumers and businesses throughout the UK.
After working for Birmingham Chamber of Commerce as a specialist marketing advisor, I set up Smarty Pants Marketing and have predominantly worked in the arts and creative sector ever since.
The work I do varies from project and event management to marketing consultancy, training and campaign management. I work with my clients as an extension of their business and approach every project with professionalism, enthusiasm and creativity.
As you can see from the photo opposite I have a beautiful, but cheeky, little girl who is the apple of my eye. Being a parent has tested my ability to multi task, problem solve, negotiate, communicate and be creative on a whole new level. It’s extremely rewarding but immensely challenging and it amazes me that I can get 45,000 people to engage in an arts project and break a world record, but I can’t get my daughter to sit still for a photo!
